# Building with AI

Taurus documentation and Taurus-PROTECT are built to work with AI assistants. Start by connecting your assistant to the docs; then, if your organization has enabled it, connect it to the Taurus-PROTECT MCP server to work with your own data.

## Documentation tools

For reading the docs. No account needed.

#### Taurus Docs MCP

**What it is:** an MCP server that lets your assistant (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or any MCP-compatible tool) search the Taurus documentation on demand.

**When to use it:** always, before anything else. It grounds your assistant in current documentation rather than training-data guesses.

#### Claude Code

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http taurus-docs https://docs.taurushq.com/_mcp/server
```

#### Cursor (.cursor/mcp.json)

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "taurus-docs": {
      "url": "https://docs.taurushq.com/_mcp/server"
    }
  }
}
```

#### Codex

```bash
codex mcp add taurus-docs --url https://docs.taurushq.com/_mcp/server
```

#### Other

```bash
# Point any MCP client that supports streamable HTTP at:
https://docs.taurushq.com/_mcp/server
```

#### llms.txt and Markdown pages

`https://docs.taurushq.com/llms.txt` is an index of the documentation for tools that expect a static text entry point; each section also has its own `/llms.txt`.

Append `.md` to any page URL for clean Markdown. Every page has a **Copy page** button for pasting a page into any assistant.

> **Note**
>
> Use these when you can't run an MCP client; otherwise prefer the Docs MCP.

## Platform tools

For working with your Taurus-PROTECT data.

#### Taurus-PROTECT MCP server

**What it is:** lets your AI assistant work with your Taurus-PROTECT data on your behalf: balances, wallets, transactions, requests awaiting approval, governance rules and more.

**When to use it:** to ask operational questions in plain language, run built-in checks such as the end-of-day operations report, or prepare (never approve) requests and governance proposals.

In Claude Code, with the server URL from your Taurus-PROTECT administrator:

```bash
claude mcp add --scope user --transport http taurus-protect https://mcp.example.com/mcp
claude mcp login taurus-protect
```

## How the tools fit together

| Tool                          | For                              | Where it runs                         | Uses your Taurus-PROTECT data  |
| ----------------------------- | -------------------------------- | ------------------------------------- | ------------------------------ |
| **Taurus Docs MCP** | Developers and agents | IDE or AI assistant | No, reads the docs only |
| **llms.txt / Markdown pages** | Tools without MCP                | Any LLM or crawler                    | No                             |
| **Taurus-PROTECT MCP server** | Operations, treasury, developers | AI assistant (Claude, Claude Code, …) | Yes, with your own permissions |

> **Tip**
>
> Install the Docs MCP first. Add the Taurus-PROTECT MCP server when you want your assistant to work with live data.
